Plant‐available soil nitrogen fluxes and turfgrass quality of Kentucky bluegrass fertilized with humic substances

چکیده

Abstract High quality turfgrass requires adequate amounts of nitrogen (N) fertilizer. However, excess N application can increase losses via leaching and gaseous emissions. Enhanced efficiency fertilizers (EEF) humic substances have been used to decrease the environment. A two‐year field experiment was conducted on a native soil with Kentucky bluegrass ( Poa pratensis L.) investigate if addition could be classified as an enhanced To determine this, objectives were: a) incorporating will plant‐available collected ion exchange membranes (IEM) over growing season b) release (NR) curves fertilizer treatments using mesh bag technique. Fertilizer included humic‐coated urea (HCU), poly‐coated (PCHCU), + dispersing granules (HDG), sulfur‐coated (PCSCU), stabilized N, urea, nontreated control. Overall, substance did not improve compared alone. Additionally, all had improved relative control provided acceptable for almost season. Over season, PCHCU 25% greater inorganic captured IEM other treatments. Both PCSCU show extended NR having period. In conclusion, increased concentrations, released it slowly, should EEF.

Measuring sod strength of Kentucky bluegrass and Supina bluegrass

The extent of root, rhizome, and/or stolon growth determines turfgrass sod maturity. In 1998, at Michigan State University, the Calrochan Sod Puller (CSP) was developed to measure the force necessary to tear a piece of sod. The CSP uses a battery powered hydraulic pulley to provide a consistent pulling force, and is attached to a load cell. In August 1999, sod strength measurements of different...

salinity tolerance of kentucky bluegrass as affected by nitrogen fertilization

in most semiarid and arid areas, fresh water shortage compels managers to use low quality water sources with high salinity to irrigate turf and landscape. recent research has noticed that management of nitrogen fertilization can alleviate salinity effects on plants. this greenhouse sand culture experiment was conducted in order to investigate morphological and physiological responses to salinit...

Prion Protein Interaction with Soil Humic Substances: Environmental Implications

Transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSE) are fatal neurodegenerative disorders caused by prions. Animal TSE include scrapie in sheep and goats, and chronic wasting disease (CWD) in cervids. Effective management of scrapie in many parts of the world, and of CWD in North American deer population is complicated by the persistence of prions in the environment. After shedding from diseased an...
